Today's question: The World Series is going on right now and in honor of that today’s Shock Collar Question is about old timey baseball. In the major leagues, there are many ways to get out - grounders, fly balls, fielders choice and of course.... gentleman's choice.
But back in the mid 1800’s there was another way you could be out and it was called “patching.”
When an effort was made to remove patching from the rule book, players resisted the change because they saw it as an important and masculine part of the game. Tell me in the game of 1800s baseball .... .how could you be patched out?
